About this tool: Fuel cost calculator
Use it to plan a road trip, compare driving with the train, or split the cost of a shared ride fairly. You need the distance, how many litres your car uses per 100 km and the price of a litre.
The calculator counts fuel only. Tolls, parking, wear on the car and insurance are not included. For a one-way trip enter the one-way distance, for a return trip double it.
Formula
Fuel (litres) = distance ÷ 100 × consumption. Cost = fuel × price per litre. Cost per person = cost ÷ people.
Worked example
350 km at 6.5 l/100 km: 350 ÷ 100 × 6.5 = 22.75 litres. At 6.50 per litre that costs 147.88, and 42.25 for every 100 km.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my car's consumption?
Check the trip computer, or fill the tank, drive, refill and divide the litres added by the kilometres driven, times 100.
Does it work for electric cars?
Yes, if you enter kWh per 100 km as consumption and the price of a kWh as the price. The result is then the cost of electricity.
Does it include tolls?
No, only fuel. Add tolls and parking yourself.
